While yoga mats are designed for grip, a yoga rug encourages the user to maintain their form with their own strength — although the textured material does give some traction and grip increases as it gets wetter. Cotton also provides benefits in terms of sweat-absorption and washability, plus it’s made from entirely natural, biodegradable materials.
